Art Director at DreamWorks Animation
Why did you pursue a career in animation?
I’ve been interested in drawing since forever. At university, I discovered my love for background design. All the other students only wanted to pursue animation, so I realized I could fill a role no one else necessarily desired. 

After graduating, I worked as the background designer for a  video game. The game gained attention and DreamWorks reached out to me about a freelancing position.
 Can you explain your role at DreamWorks?
I've been working in visual development at DreamWorks for 11 years now! This position means a lot of collaboration. I work with the story boarders to design the environment and basic composition based on the script. 

When things start to settle and our designs are approved by the director, we work with a team of modelers to rig the characters. The last step is animating!

It's sort of bittersweet -- suddenly it's not yours anymore, it's for everyone."

Croods 2

Floriane worked as Visual Development Artist on The Croods sequel, specializing in color design, color keys, character design, and design of the environment.

Trolls 2

Floriane contributed as Visual Development Artist on Trolls 2, which premiered in the spring of 2020.

Working at DreamWorks

"I've worked on several projects for DreamWorks, including the sequels for Croods and Trolls, and most recently, as the Art Director for The Bad Guys.


Working in visual development means a lot of collaboration. In order for the project to be a success, there must be a clear direction.  Everyone puts so much time and energy into their work, so knowing exactly what the film is trying to achieve is important."

My favorite show right now is The Maid on Netflix. The characters are extremely well written and the cast is fantastic.

I love Cowboy Bepop. The music, the vibe, the graphic choice is excellent.

A hobby of mine...

I love playing video games! A game I'm finishing up right now is Elden Ring.
