About

Tina founded Buzz Marketing Group, an award winning, full-service marketing company. She's also the author of Chasing Youth Culture, Getting It Right and the Mackenzie Blue series.  
     
Tina serves on the board of NPH USA, Young Entrepreneur Council and the UN's Global Entrepreneurs Council. Tina is also the current Academic Director of Wharton's Leadership in the Business World program.

Tina has been named Essence’s 40 Under 40, Billboard’s 30 Under 30, and Inc’s 30 Under 30.

Q & A


What did you want to be growing up?
Growing up, I always wanted to be a fashion writer! It’s how I ended up actually starting my career. I even pursued journalism in college and graduated from college with a degree in communications.
What was your first job?
My first job is right in line with what my dream was as a child; writing for a newspaper for girls out of New York City called The New Girl Times.
What caused you to get into marketing?
My job at The New Girls Times is what drove me to start my marketing business. As a product review editor, I would share the published pieces with PR directors at brands. They would ask for my opinions on other pieces. I then realized how valued my opinion was in this field and that I could turn this into a way to make money, while also loving what I do!

What kind of environment have you created 
at your company? 

Here at BMG, I’d like to say that our environment is fast-paced, but very fun. My confidence in the employees I hire spills over into the office atmosphere. We get a lot done,
 but also have an equal amount of 
fun doing so.
